American Art
		American art history is unique; it did not spring from a past; it is still only a few hundred years old. Later, because of close contact with the art of other countries, with the influence of a growing number of museums, galleries, art schools and, indeed, some help from the city, state and federal governments, American art has assumed world-wide importance. The TL makes clear the relatedness of American art to itself and to the world.
